CHARTERED COUNSELLING PSYCHOLOGIST & THERAPIST
ABOUT
A little about my journey
My route to psychology wasn't quite what I had planned. I originally trained as an adult critical care nurse before moving to the UK and working with a charity supporting young adults affected by cancer. Through that work I became increasingly aware of the profound emotional and psychological changes that can accompany illness and how difficult that support can sometimes be to access.
That experience sparked my interest in psychology and ultimately led me to become a Counselling Psychologist.

What has shaped my work
Since then, I've worked across a range of health and community settings including the NHS and the third sector. Much of my career has been spent in oncology and palliative care alongside work involving anxiety, relationships, caring responsibilities and other significant life changes.
These experiences have shaped both my professional interests and the way I approach therapy.
What matters to me
I am particularly interested in how we make sense of ourselves when life changes. Illness, changes in relationships, loss and other major life transitions can challenge not only how we live, but how we see ourselves and future we had imagined.
I often think about the person we were before these experiences, and how we bring that person with us as we navigate what comes next. Sometimes, the task is't about returning to how things were, or simply accepting a new reality. It's about finding ways to adjust, accommodate what has changed, and make room for our experiences without losing sight of who we are.
I believe that understanding these experiences takes time, curiosity and willingness to explore things together. There isn't a universal answer to what someone needs when they're struggling and I don't see my role as having all the answers. Instead, I bring my psychological knowledge and experience to help us make sense of what's happening and find a way forward that feels meaningful to you.
Find a way forward doesn't always mean returning to how things were, because often we can't. Sometimes it means learning how to
make roomfor what
has changed."

A little bit about working with me
A personal reassurance
I hope people experience me as warm, compassionate and genuinely curious.
I love hearing people's stories, understanding what makes them who they are, and helping them notice connections or patterns that might previously have felt difficult to make sense of.
I take a conversational approach to therapy and believe there is room for humour, even when we're talking about difficult things. Therapy doesn't need to feel overly formal or intimidating. Equally, I believe that meaningful change sometimes involves gently challenging the familiar ways of thinking or behaving that may once have helped us, but no longer serve us so well.
Above all, I want therapy to feel collaborative. Sometimes you might need space to talk and feel heard; at other times, you might want practical strategies or a more action-focused approach. We'll work together to understand what feels most helpful to you, drawing on different therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs.
As part of my professional training, I undertook personal therapy over three years. Experiencing therapy from the other side has given me an appreciation of the vulnerability involved in inviting someone into your inner world, and of the importance of finding a space where you feel comfortable enough to explore it.
