Session Structure

I offer remote sessions via Skype, Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet.

Face to face sessions are held at East Hill Psychotherapy Rooms ( 94 East Hill, SW18 2HF)  in Wandsworth.

The number of sessions will depend on your therapeutic goals and aims. I offer short, medium and longer term therapy. Typically I work with people on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, and later sessions can be less frequent to monitor maintained changes. I don’t want to rush the therapy process, but I also don’t want to keep you in therapy for longer than you need or want.  We will discuss your needs during our initial call and agree on an initial course of treatment including therapeutic approach and number of sessions.

Short term therapy

Usually considered to be 6 to 12 sessions. Generally short term therapy is a great option for working on a specific goal or problem, or to talk through a pressing issue. Short term counselling can also be useful for checking out important one-off life decisions in a constructive and containing environment.

Medium term therapy

Usually lasting for several months medium term therapy can be useful supporting you to change habits that have formed which aren’t useful and are impacting your quality of life. For example medium term therapy may focus on addressing self-confidence or esteem, relationship issues, understanding difficult family dynamics, managing school or workplace bullying, health issues, exploring sexuality and more

Long term therapy

Some individuals may require long term and ongoing counselling. Long term therapy helps you to look more at the past and develop a deeper understanding of yourself and how your past may affect things you do today. Long term therapy is appropriate for people with deep-seated wounds or early life traumas. The main benefit of long-therapy is that you are able to take your time unpacking troubling, and at times traumatic issues or memories in a safe and contained manner.

Self-funding.
Private Medical Insurance.

I am an approved provider with some medical insurance providers, including Aviva, AXA, Bupa, Cigna and Vitality. Please check with us in advance, as these may change.

In most instances I am happy for clients to refer themselves. However, if you are registered with a private healthcare insurer and wish to have part or all of the fees paid for by the insurer, a referral from your GP (or with some companies, from a psychiatrist) may be required by the insurance provider to cover your fees. Please check with your provider what their criteria are.

Please note that clients with medical insurance are responsible for ensuring that their fees are paid in full. In some instances insurance companies will only pay for part of session fees, or for a limited number of sessions, depending on the policy. Where the medical insurance company fails to pay for any or all of the session fees for any reason, clients will be liable for payment of the outstanding fee.

Cancellations.

I appreciate that sometimes circumstances change and you may need to miss a session or two. I ask for 24 hours cancellation notice with no charge. Any cancellations after that will be charged at the full rate and my impact your total session allocation (private medical insurance).
